Refund & Return Policy

Dachshund Puppy Home recognizes that adopting a Dachshund puppy is a significant and heartfelt decision. Bringing a new puppy into your family is a joyous and fulfilling experience, and our goal is to make this transition as smooth and stress-free as possible. We also understand that life can present unexpected changes, and we have established comprehensive policies to address such situations while prioritizing the well-being of our beloved Dachshund puppies.

Our Commitment to You and Your Puppy

We are dedicated to ensuring that both you and your new puppy have a positive and loving experience. Our policies are designed to provide clarity, support, and assurance throughout the adoption process and beyond.

Refund and Return Policy

Adopting a puppy is a lifelong commitment, and while we hope everything goes perfectly, we acknowledge that unforeseen circumstances may arise. Our Refund and Return Policy is crafted to handle these situations thoughtfully and responsibly.

Understanding the Basics

In the United States, live animals are not covered under consumer protection laws that allow for returns within a specific period without a valid reason. Therefore, it is essential for both the buyer and the seller to clearly outline the terms of return or exchange when finalizing the adoption contract.

Conditions for Return and Exchange

If a return is necessary, it must be based on valid and documented reasons. The following are considered acceptable grounds for returning a puppy:

  1. Allergies to Pets

    • If a family member develops a pet allergy within a week of bringing the puppy home, and this is confirmed by a certified allergy specialist, a return may be warranted. It is crucial that the allergy is specifically diagnosed as being triggered by the puppy and not other unrelated factors.
    • Note: Pre-purchase allergy testing is recommended. If a pre-existing allergy is reported, a return may be subject to a partial refund of 50% to cover the breeder’s costs and missed sales opportunities.
  2. Congenital Defects

    • Puppies with congenital defects not disclosed prior to adoption can be returned. If defects were disclosed and acknowledged in the adoption contract, they are no longer grounds for return.
  3. Health Issues

    • Infections diagnosed by a veterinarian within the first five days of adoption qualify for a return. A vet’s official report is required to substantiate the claim.
  4. Severe Behavioral Problems

    • Significant behavioral issues, confirmed by a veterinarian or documented through video evidence, may warrant a return or exchange, subject to the breeder’s approval.
Invalid Reasons for Return

Certain issues do not qualify for a return, including:

  • Allergies to environmental irritants not specific to the puppy.
  • Health issues appearing after five days, likely resulting from external factors.
  • Developmental defects discovered post-adoption.
  • Common health issues like worms, constipation, or transient symptoms such as watery eyes or diarrhea, unless linked to a confirmed infection.
  • Minor behavioral adjustments that can be managed through training and proper care.

Procedures for Returning a Puppy

  1. Initial Steps

    • Consult a veterinarian for an official diagnosis if you believe your puppy has a health or behavioral issue.
    • Gather necessary documentation, including veterinary reports and video evidence if applicable.
  2. Submitting a Return Request

  3. Breeder Review

    • Upon receiving your request, the breeder has three days to evaluate and respond. If the return is justified, arrangements for refund or exchange will be made.
  4. Dispute Resolution

    • If there is a disagreement, our arbitration team will review the case within three days and provide a recommendation. While the arbitration verdict is not legally binding, it serves as an official document to facilitate resolution.
  5. Returning the Puppy

    • Place the puppy in a secure carrier and accompany them with an original, stamped medical report.
    • Arrange for transportation through a trusted courier. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs.
    • Notify the breeder upon shipment, and the breeder must process the refund within three business days upon receiving the puppy.

Shipping and Handling Policies

At Dachshund Puppy Home, we offer flexible options for transferring your new puppy to ensure their safe arrival:

Handling the Pet Over to the Buyer
  • Personal Pickup: You may choose to collect your puppy directly from our facility, allowing for an immediate and personal introduction.

  • Transport Services: If personal pickup is not feasible, we coordinate secure transportation through reputable third-party couriers. Puppies travel in specialized carriers designed for their safety and comfort, accompanied by trained professionals.

  • Reusable Carriers: The transport carrier can be reused for future needs, available for an additional fee, or provided as a complimentary gift at our discretion.

Shipment Protocol
  • Timely Shipping: Puppies are shipped within three days of full payment unless an alternative arrangement is agreed upon.

  • Homestay Arrangements: If you wish to delay pickup after the puppy is ready, a homestay fee may apply. However, no fees are charged for homestays up to two weeks or until the puppy reaches 3.5 months of age.

  • Shipment Day Verification: We strongly recommend that a video is taken on shipment day to verify the puppy’s health and happiness, showcasing their teeth, ears, eyes, and coat condition. If you opt for personal pickup, you will have the opportunity to inspect the puppy in person.

Delivery Within the USA
  • Domestic Shipping: Within the United States, puppies are delivered either by our team or through trusted third-party couriers. Shipping costs are separate and vary based on the carrier selected.

  • Meeting at Transit Points: For certain deliveries, puppies may be sent via ground transportation (train or bus), requiring you to meet them at the designated station at the scheduled time.

Courier Responsibility

Once handed over to the courier, the service provider assumes full responsibility for the puppy’s condition and health during transit. We advise using only reliable and trusted courier services to ensure your puppy’s safety.

Ownership Transfer

Ownership rights transfer to you once the puppy is handed over. If the puppy is not received, the adoption contract is considered void, and a full refund will be issued.

Throughout the adoption and delivery process, we maintain transparent and timely communication. From travel schedules to arrival details, our team keeps you informed every step of the way.
